Recently, the increasing energy demand has caused dramatic consumption of fossil fuels and unavoidable rising energy prices. moreover, the environmental effect of fossil fuels led to the need to use renewable energy (re) to meet the rising energy demand. in this context, the integration of renewable energy sources to meet the energy demand is a promising scenario to overcome the re challenges.this study proposes a convex operational optimization approach for a hybrid renewable energy system coupled with optimal sizing to enhance the penetration rate of renewable energy in meeting energy demands. the proposed framework aims to optimize the lifetime cost of a system encompassing design and installation considerations. specifically, the framework is applied to a hybrid renewable energy system comprising photovoltaic (pv) panels, batteries, and a diesel generator with capacities of 4000, 40300, and 3000 watts, respectively, and the final cost of $18,593.96 to supply a 14-watt load. a milp method is applied to achieve optimal operation.this research delves into the optimal modeling of the hybrid system utilizing matlab software, which is subsequently compared with operational data obtained from a real hybrid system deployed in salafchagan. discrepancies between the simulated and actual results are addressed through the incorporation of a diesel generator into the system. in conclusion, a sensitivity analysis study is conducted to scrutinize the outcomes of parameters acquired through matlab software against those generated by the pvsyst software. this comparison offers an in-depth examination of the robustness and reliability of the proposed framework.
