چکیده    Drained peatlands are characteristic of today¢s landscape in kaliningrad oblast, which is located in the southeastern part of the baltic region. in 2021, the area was included in the carbon supersite programme of the russian federation, which aims to measure ghg fluxes at regionally relevant or reference sites (carbon supersites). our investigations provide baseline data on ghg fluxes from a typical drained peatland, as part of the central european region, focusing on the spatial heterogeneity of its vegetation cover. the two-year study showed that the integral carbon balance consists of three main components. the largest share (84%) is co2 emissions from woody plant biomass. an order of magnitude lower (14%) are the annual emissions of со2 and сн4 from herbaceous and moss plant mass and soil respiration. the dissolved organic carbon flux is only 2% of the total carbon loss. the unmanaged peatland currently has a significant annual carbon loss of 4.82 t c ha-1yr-1. the reduction in emissions is proposed as a result of the implementation of rewetting.
