نقدی بر تعاریف شعر محمدرضا شفیعی کدکنی

گروهی با تعریف شعر مخالفند و معتقدند که تعریف شعر به دلیل گستردگی و پهنای آن، دشوار و یا غیر ممکن است، اما برخی صاحب‌نظران، برای شعر تعریف‌های گوناگونی آورده‌اند که بسیاری از آن‌ها با یک‌دیگر مغایرت یا منافات دارند که هر یک در جای خود مورد انتقاد و تحلیل و بررسی است. محمدرضا شفیعی کدکنی از کسانی است که برای شعر تعاریف گوناگونی آورده که برخی از آن‌ها گاهی ناقص اند و یا گاهی با یک‌دیگر تناقض دارند و این ناشی از برداشت‌های متفاوت و گرایش‌های وی به برخی مکاتب است. هدف نگارنده در این تحقیق، از مقایسه‌ی تعاریف شعر از نگاه شفیعی کدکنی، رسیدن به یک تعریف واحد است. این تحقیق به روش توصیفی - تحلیلی صورت گرفته و پیشینه‌ی آن، بیانگر اختلاف در تعاریف شعر از یک نگاه است. مبانی نظری این تحقیق نشان می‌دهد که در این تعاریف، تناقضات و نواقصی دیده می‌شود که حاکی از نگاه وی به شعر از دو دیدگاه متضاد ایماژیسمی و فرمالیسمی است. نتیجه-ای که از این تحقیق گرفته شده، بیانگر آن است که هر تعریفی درباره‌ی شعر، بستگی به شرایط زمانی و مکانی یک دوره‌ی خاص دارد. با توجه به این که تعریف باید جامع و مانع باشد، نمی توان تعریف کامل و واحدی از شعر در یک دوره و زمان ارائه داد تا مرز میا شعر و نثر مشخص شود، خصوصاً این که نمی توان، همزمان دو تعریف متضاد و متناقض، برای شعر در یک دوره‌ی خاص، با دو دیدگاه متفاوت قایل شد.
