چکیده    Inorganic nanomaterials have emerged as versatile and high-impact candidates in the pursuit of sustainable energy and environmental solutions. their unique physicochemical features-such as high surface-to-volume ratios, tunable electronic structures, and exceptional catalytic properties-have enabled significant advancements in areas including photocatalysis, energy storage, pollutant degradation, water purification, and environmental sensing. this review critically examines the performance of key classes of inorganic nanomaterials and their practical roles in addressing global sustainability challenges. despite their vast potential, issues related to large-scale synthesis, cost-effectiveness, environmental toxicity, and the lack of nanoparticle-specific regulatory frameworks continue to hinder real-world adoption. to overcome these barriers, this article explores emerging approaches such as green synthesis methods, safe-by-design engineering, and the substitution of rare or toxic elements with abundant, eco-friendly alternatives. it also highlights the significance of life-cycle assessments, public perception, and global policy harmonization in ensuring the responsible deployment of nanotechnologies. by integrating scientific innovation with ecological stewardship, regulatory foresight, and cross-sector collaboration, inorganic nanomaterials can transition from promising laboratory materials to foundational components of a more sustainable and resilient technological future.
