Nanomatrials have attracted considerable attention for their potential applications in the electrochemical sensing of 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-dcp), a compound of significant environmental concern. in this research, we developed a manganese tungstate (mnwo4)/reduced graphene oxide (rgo) composite using a hydrothermal synthesis method. the synthesized mnwo4/rgo composite was then drop - casted onto a screen printed electrode (spe) to evaluate its performance as a sensor for 2,4-dcp. we utilized cyclic voltammetry (cv), differential pulse voltammetry (dpv) and chronoamperometry to assess the electrochemical detection capabilities of the mnwo4/rgo-modified spe (mnwo4/rgo/spe). the results revealed that the composite exhibited exceptional sensitivity for 2,4-dcp, with a detection limit (lod) as low as 0.01 µm and a sensitivity of 0.1969 µa/µm, as determined by dpv. moreover, the mnwo4/rgo/spe demonstrated impressive selectivity, stability, and repeatability in its detection of 2,4-dcp, indicating its reliability for practical applications. these favorable characteristics suggest that the synthesized material holds great promise for future research and development in electrochemical sensors, particularly for monitoring environmental pollutants like 2,4-dcp. it also showed high recovery rates (97.3-104.3%), highlighting its potential for real practical applications. the findings of this study pave the way for further exploration of the mnwo4/rgo composite in various sensing applications, potentially contributing to improve environmental monitoring and protection strategies.
