بحث از معنای زندگی یکی از دغدغه‌های اساسی بشر امروز است. هایدگر اگرچه که به‌ طور مستقیم به این بحث نپرداخته، اما از میان آراء و نظریاتش می‌توان به دیدگاه وی در این رابطه پی برد. وی بشر امروز را بی ‌خانمان و دچار نیهیلیسم وجودی می‌داند. وی راه ‌حل خود را ابتدا بازگشت به وجود و زندگی اصیل خودمختار می‌داند و در دوره دوم عمر خود برای معنابخشیدن به زندگی، بحث احترام به طبیعت و پرهیز از غلبه تکنولوژی ابزاری بر زندگی انسان را مطرح می‌کند. ضعف اساسی دیدگاه وی غفلت از غایت زندگی انسان است؛ غایتی که می‌تواند به زندگی انسان معنا ببخشد؛ اما دین با ترسیم غایت و سعادتی جاودان برای انسان، وی را به‌سوی زندگی رهنمون می‌سازد که می‌تواند به اوج معناداری برسد.روش این پژوهش توصیفی – تحلیلی است.
