چکیده    Type 2 diabetes (t2d), formerly known as adult-onset diabetes, is characterized by high blood sugar, insulin resistance, and relative lack of insulin. diabetic retinopathy, a secondary microvascular complication of diabetes mellitus, is the leading cause of blindness. there is extensive evidence that the pathologic ocular angiogenesis in diabetic retinopathy is regulated by the vascular endothelial growth factor-a (vegf-a).the single nucleotide polymorphism (snp) c936t (rs3025039) of the vegf gene has been investigated in relation to cancer, endometriosis, and age-related macular degeneration. the relationship between the rs3025039 vegf gene polymorphism and the risk of type 2 diabetic retinopathy in 80 dt2 patients was examined. no significant association was found between polymorphism c936t and type 2 diabetes. it is recommended that this study be repeated on a larger population.
