This study investigates the effects of various carbon dioxide (co2) injection methods on immiscible flooding performance using sandstone sand-packs. gas injection is one of the high efficiency methods of oil recovery. it is also less expensive than other enhanced oil recovery (eor) methods, however, it is a very complicated process. this research includes three experiments, which were performed by continuous co2 injection in horizontal direction, continuous co2 injection in vertical direction and co2 injection in the tertiary state. in all the experiments a sample of dead oil from one of iran’s southern fields has been used. in the conducted experiments, the effect of co2 and sea water flooding on the amount of oil produced and recovery has been investigated. the results of the study suggest that tertiary mode injection with 60.1% oil recovery has the highest efficiency. vertical co2 injection has 40.4% oil recovery, and horizontal co2 injection has the lowest oil recovery efficiency at 30.6%.
