The oil and gas industry plays a key role in the economy and development of countries. hence, enhanced oil recovery projects should be taken into account as well.in this study, core flooding experiments has been carried out to investigate the effect of water alternating carbon dioxide injection process on the recovery factor on two carbonate rock samples. prior and after to each core flooding test, the porosity and permeability of core samples were measured.in addition, energy dispersive x-ray (edx) analysis was done to identify the mineralogy and physical characteristics of core samples, along with carbonate rock type. the core flooding experimental results showed that the recovery factor of core samples 1 and 2 is 10.7% and 24%, respectively.according to the results, the porosity of the cores decreased. the permeability in calcareous dolomitic carbonate rock declined, while in the coredolomitic limestone carbonate rock experienced a significant increase
