چکیده
|
Although there can be found quite a few translated texts (tt) produced from a single source-text, they are not of the same quality. the quality of tts can be evaluated by the use of translation quality assessment (tqa) models. this paper is aimed at finding matches and mismatches between an original english literary text and its two persian translations. the study also aims to investigate whether the variable of time-span could affect the quality of translation or not. another objective of the present paper was to determine which translation enjoyed higher quality. in order to achieve this goal, the story of evelin fom dubliners by james joyce (1914) and its two persian translations were chosen for analysis. the first translation had been published by parviz daryoush in 1967, while the second translation was presented 50 years later by ahmad golshiri. the selected model for analyzing the data was that of house (2015) whose applicability and comprehensiveness has been confirmed in different studies. the results of the study revealed that the passage of time has lead translators to show greater tendency towards employing simple and everyday vocabularies. in addition, it was found that golshiri’s translation was of higher quality than that of daryoush .
