   Investigating the Necessity of TeachingTranslation Theories To Ba Students OfTranslation Studies From Teachers’ Point of View

چکیده    This case study aimed to investigate the necessity of teaching translation theories to bastudents of translation studies from the perspective of the teacher. ba translation courses at iranianuniversities are generally practice-based lacking meaningful teaching of translation theories andconcepts. the main objective of this study was to reveal the possible outcomes of incorporatingtranslation theories in ba translation courses. to this end, 30 translation trainers from zandinstitute of higher education were selected based on their availability and the purpose of the study.this study followed a quantitative design. the participants were asked to complete a questionnairedesigned by the researcher with questions related to the implications of translation theories inpractical translation courses. the responses to the items ranged from strongly agree to stronglydisagree. strongly agree was graded 5 and strongly disagree was graded 1. to analyze the data,spss program was applied, and also descriptive statistics including frequency, percent, mean, andstandard deviation was used. the findings of the study showed the gap in the translation trainingprogram in iranian universities where certain needs for theoretical knowledge of students are notmet. also, the results indicated that translator trainers have a generally good attitude and are awareof the importance of translation theories; therefore, most of them agree with the relevance of theoryto practice. finally, some suggestions for the application of translation theories in practicaltranslation programs were presented. the findings of this research may be of great help tocurriculum designers and teachers of english translation. the study proposes to improve thestudents' translation competence by teaching them theoretical translation. english teachers can alsouse the result of the study to improve their teaching performance. in addition, the result of the studycan be very good for high education material writers in the field of translation studies.
