چکیده    A probabilistic design strategy is presented to design the typical gas pipelines in persian gulf. the proposed method aims at reducing the significant consequences of the pipeline failure for both natural and human environments. a comprehensive model for the maintenance planning of gas pipelines is developed and different scenarios' of repair/ replacement are defined for identifying failure modes and alternating size of defects. sensitivity analysis is carried out for various pressures and the effect of correlation between physical and geometrical variables is presented in probabilistic domain, consequently. it is observed that in case of higher internal pressure values, notable changes occur when the mean values of defect depth is greater than five millimeters.
