crime rates and criminal justice policies in the advent of covid-19 pandemic: some criminological issues

The present article focuses on some significant aspects of covid-19 outbreak from the perspective of criminology, as a specificdiscipline in social and criminal sciences. as a criminologicalenterprise, two main topics are considered in the light of the aim andscope of the present journal in the field of economics and politicsfrom a comparative viewpoint between iran’s and world’s data, asappropriate. these topics include the issues of criminal justice policywhich encompass the impacts of covid-19 pandemic on criminalpolicies relating to or arising from crime rates, emphasizing oneconomic crimes, and in area of criminal justice system, focusing onthe prison system and prevention of crime. the article concludes thatthe current pandemic has serious impacts on crime rates and criminaljustice policies based on the assumption that ‘disease’ alongside‘crime’ endanger physical and mental aspects of human health.
