research of knowledge and use levels of elite wrestlers about doping and ergogenic aids

The aim of the study is to investigate the knowledge levels and opinions of turkish freestyle, greco-roman and female national team wretslers about doping and ergogenic aids. a total of 123 elite wrestlers participated in the study voluntarily in 2019, including 47 freestyle, 52 greco-roman and 24 women in national team camps. the mean age of the participants was 22,94 ± 3,44 years. in this study, a questionnaire about doping agents and ergogenic aids developed by eröz (2007) was used. spss 24 package program was used to analyze the data. frequency and percentage values are given as descriptive statistics. pearson correlation analysis was performed to determine the relationship between doping knowledge levels and opinions, education level and sport age. p<0.05 was accepted as the level of significance in the interpretation of statistical procedures. in the light of the findings, it is seen that the wrestlers are primarily of the opinion that “athletes prefer to use doping to reach a good standard of living ”, they do not have enough information about doping, and that doping has great harm to health. it was also determined that the majority of the participants agreed that doping caused unfair competition, they did not agree with the release of doping use and the idea of using doping unless i was caught. in addition, it was seen that the majority of the participants did not use the drugs given by their trainer without knowing the contents. in addition to these, it was found that as the education level of the wrestlers increased, their knowledge about doping decreased and the thoughts that doping did not have great health damages increased. in addition, as the training level of wrestlers increased, it was determined that the use of doping in sports should not be released and that doping was not well known by athletes, coaches and administrators. it was found that as the age of the wrestlers increased, they avoid trying every way to success in sports and think that doping is not well known by athletes, coaches and administrators.
