Sexism against Female Journalist in Turkish Sports Media

In this study, it is aimed to reveal the difficulties experienced by women journalists working in turkish sports media while they doing their jobs with a gender based analysis. in the study, the phenomenology description, one of the qualitative research designs, was used. for the data of the study, interviews were conducted by the researcher with nine female sports journalists by utilizing a semi-structured interview form which was prepared according to qualitative research techniques. the sound-recorded interviews obtained were transcribed by the researchers using the content analysis method. according to the data from the interviews, female sports journalists meet with some difficulties during the beginning of their profession and they have to struggle more than men to prove themselves because of the fact that the sports media is a male-dominated sector and the positions of women in this sector are not very high. in addition, women journalists are more disadvantaged in terms of position, prestige and earnings in this sector and they have to protect themselves constantly, as they can be subjected to sexual harassment, especially when they are ‘young and single’.
