در طول تاریخ استدلال های طولانی درباره محدودیت های خرد بشری وجود داشته است. این مقاله می کوشد با تاکید بر محدودیت های عقل و درکِ منفعل و پوچ نبودن این باور، به حال و هوای رباعیات خیام بپردازد. خیام، ریاضیدان و ستاره شناس بزرگ زمان خود بود که در رباعیاتش بر رها شدن از کشف اسراری که عقل بشری با آنها سر و کار ندارد و به عبارتی سکوت در مقابل رازهای هستی تاکید می کند. سکوت وقتی به وجود می آید که نیاز یا امکان صحبت وجود داشته باشد و شخص از گفتن آن پرهیز کند. با این حال ، باید توجه داشت که سکوت لزوماً دهان بسته نیست و ابعاد مختلفی دارد که در این مقاله به آنها پرداخته خواهد شد.

Secrets and Silences of Khayyam

There have been long arguments on the limitations of human reason throughout history. The issue that comes to mind right after expressing the limitations of reason is the benefit and emphasis of this belief. This article seeks to point out that emphasizing the limitations of reason and realizing that this belief not only does not results in passivity and absurdity, as many mistakenly conclude from Khayyam's poems, but also results in attention to the moment and human spontaneity. As he, himself did not fall into the path of absurdity and became a great mathematician and astronomer of his time. In other words, it not only does not emphasize absurdity and does not involve one in the ambiguity and fear of future, but also exempts a person from the past philosophies about the issue that are not perceived by the reason. Accordingly, it does not cause the human being to regret the past and anxious about future and leads him to relative goodness and happiness. Its main goal is to get rid of the secrets that human reason does not have to deal with and to waste the life on them. As a result, one must remain silent in the face of the secrets of the universe. Silence arises when there is a need or a possibility to speak and one avoids saying it. This conversion is called silence. However, it should be noted that silence is not necessarily shutting mouth and has different dimensions that will be addressed in this article.
