In this study, a solar powered absorption cooling system was modeled using the trnsys software. the performance of the system was investigated using dynamic modeling under the weather conditions of kerman, iran. the annual average insolation for kerman is 5.2 5.4 kwh/m2/day in summer with the sunshine of 10 13 hours a day, which gives suitable conditions for solar powered cooling system operation. trnsys software provides the possibility to simulate a complete solar air conditioning system integrated with a building. this study uses trnsys to model an absorption chiller operated by hot water from an evacuated tube collector. 100 m2 collector area of 100 m2 is sufficient to maintain the temperature in an 1100 m2 office building at or below 25°c during the cooling season.
