چکیده    The thermal comfort condition in urban areas has degraded due to the rapid changes in the urban morphology during the last decades. volumetric compactness, building aspect ratio, the sky view factor, applied materials on facades, and etc. are some of the urban design related parameters which influence microclimate and consequently the uhi in cities. the application of efficient urban design measure has the potential of moderating these conditions. vegetation is one of these solutions. vegetation in the form of trees and also green façade, green roofs and terraces moderates the urban microclimate by increasing solar reflection, evaporative cooling and casting shadows. however, the physical features of vegetation, as well as their locations have a significant effect on mitigating the pedestrian level discomfort. this research mainly focuses on several feature of greenery and their effect on urban thermal comfort. investigations have proved that green walls enhance the aesthetic aspect of architecture as well as improving environmental effects. these elements have the capability of mitigating uhi, absorbing air pollution, reducing temperature and also enhance shading value.
