چکیده    Inorganic nanopigments have been used in various research and industrial fields due to their special properties and applications such as in digital printing, paint, cool coating, and hydrophobic and resistance surface coating. in this perspective, we have synthesized the blue color ceramic nanopigments from the host heulandite-na zeolite with the guests of zinc oxide and cobalt chloride. the advantage of using zeolite and zinc oxide is the plentiful and cheap materials, which help to reduce less amount of cobalt to achieve intense blue color. the method was mixing the amount of the precursors in water with stirring for 6 hrs at 85℃. the method was ion-exchange and heat-induced collapse of the zeolite structure at 1000℃. co-willemite and co-gahnite are two phases that responsible for the blue color in the sample as characterized by x-ray diffraction (xrd) analysis. from the uv-vis spectroscopy, the absorption band showed that the three peaks from 500 nm to 650 nm were related to the cobalt transition in the sample. besides the colorimetric result indicated that the pigment color in the region of blue color as represented by l*=49.2, b*=-22, and a*=-11. then we modified the surface of the achieved pigments with the use of sodium dodecyl sulfate as a surfactant with water. the latter were mixing for 1 hour and thermal treatment at 200℃ for 1hr. then it coated on the surface of ceramic tile. we achieved the hydrophobic surface with the contact angel ca=135˚, this can be used as a self-cleaning ceramic surface.

Abstract    Inorganic nanopigments have been used in various research and industrial fields due to their special properties and applications such as in digital printing, paint, cool coating, and hydrophobic and resistance surface coating.
