Cobalt ions are the widely distributed ions in the environment and their excess amounts cause the adverse effects on the human health. herein, the preparation and application of a chemical sensor for the detection of cobalt ions was reported. chitosan (cs) / polyvinyl alcohol (pva) nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning and crosslinked by glutaraldehyde. the crosslinked mat was applied for the selective identification of co (ii) ions. the results revealed that crosslinked cs/pva mat has the much higher selectivity against cobalt ions versus cu (ii), ni (ii), cd (ii), pb (ii), cr (ii) and hg (ii). the nanofiber characterization was carried out by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ft-ir), scanning electron microscopy (sem) and thermal gravimetric analysis (tga). uv-vis spectrophotometric analysis was applied for the determination of reflection and absorption of polymeric nanofiber before and after of cobalt ions exposure. the effect of initial ion concentration and contact time was investigated. the results were ascertained that crosslinked cs/pva nanofiber mat can be applied for the selective detection of co2+ with low limit of detection (lod) in water samples.

|
