In this paper, for the first time, the aminopropyl triethoxysilane (aps) was used for surface treatment of zg-67 nanoparticles to improve the weathering and corrosion performance of epoxy coatings. for synthesis of zgs-67, cobalt ion and 2-methyl imidazole organic ligand were grown on go nanosheets. after that, nanoparticles were modified by aps. the fabricated nanoparticles (go, zgs-67) were added to the epoxy coatings by 0.15 wt. % and the effect of fabricated nanoparticles on the weathering of the coatings was evaluated by different techniques. for this aim, the coatings were subjected to quv accelerated weathering tester and some appearance analysis were executed before and after 400 hours exposure in the chamber for evaluation of weathering properties. the results of color difference showed that the least value of δe is related to epc-zgs (δe=10.58 compared to 17.1 and 12.4 respectively for epc and epc-go). also, the epc-zgs coating had the least changes in blueness-yellowness (δb) and the highest gloss retention compared to other coatings. the roughness (ra and rz) and hardness (h) of all coatings were evaluated and the results showed that the increments of these parameters were significantly fewer for the epc/zgs sample. according to the all test results, the excellent weathering resistance was observed for the epoxy coatings in the presence of zgs-67 nanoparticles.
