چکیده    During the past decades, multitudes of reports confirmed the impressive role of carbon dots (cds) in the nanobiotechnology owing to their fantastic features. various applications can be assigned to cds. some of these applications put emphasis on the environmental facets of cds, namely detection of pesticides or heavy metal ions as pollutants in the nature and food mechanism of mankind and animals. some of them exhibit their industrial aspect, such as detection of ferric (iii) ion (fe (iii)). fe (iii) detection can be caused a positive shift of corrosion potential that this can be considered as an industrial application of fe (iii) detection. in this research, we synthesized cds from citric acid and l-cysteine via pyrolysis method. afterward, morphology features, like size and surface charge and optical properties of synthesized cds were investigated by dynamic light scattering (dls) along with zeta potential sizer and photoluminescence (pl) spectroscopy, respectively. to examine the range of fe (iii) detection by cds, appropriate concentration of cds and fe (iii) were considered. in addition of morphology results that confirmed miniscule nano size and negative charge of cds, optical investigations verified maximum emission peak of cds at excitation wavelength of 365 nm, displaying the blue color of cds. furthermore, our cds can detect fe (iii) with low detection limit in comparison with other studies by displaying cds fluorescence quenching that this function can play an impressive role in the inhibition of corrosion in industries.

Abstract    During the past decades, multitudes of reports confirmed the impressive role of carbon dots (CDs) in the nanobiotechnology owing to their fantastic features.
