چکیده    Nbsic coatings are deposited on aisi 321 stainless steel, used to fabricate boiler and steam generator tubes in different industries, by reactive magnetron sputtering. in this study, the structural characteristics and anti-corrosion properties of nbsic coatings with various si contents were investigated. the results show that increasing the si content decreases the corrosion current density (icorr) of the coated substrates and increases their polarization resistance (rp) (table 1). the reasons for these observations are that by increasing the si content, the coating density increases, also the surface roughness and structural defects decrease. in addition, increasing the si content increases the percentage of sic crystals in the structure and forms a two-phase solid solution. altogether, considering the great microstructure and anti-corrosion properties of the coated substrates, the nbsic coating can be suggested as a good protective coating for this substrate which is used in corrosive environments.

Abstract    NbSiC coatings are deposited on AISI 321 stainless steel, used to fabricate boiler and steam generator tubes in different industries, by reactive magnetron sputtering.
