چکیده    Historical researches show that dyeing with natural dyes have existed as a valuable special art in the region of iran since the achaemenid period. natural dyes are still of interest to researchers for a variety of reasons, including environmental protection and antimicrobial properties. despite the antiquity and advantages of natural dyes, the use of natural dyes has problems such as the complexity of the dyeing process, limited shades and unsuitable properties of color stability. to solve the mentioned problems, new natural dyes, different mordants and other effective parameters in dyeing can be used. in this research, coffee waste has been used as a natural dye for dyeing silk fabrics. for eco-friendly dyeing and to improve the natural dye’s affinity to fabrics, lemon peel as natural mordants were applied instead of traditional metallic mordants. the effect of the natural extraction method and mordanting procedures were evaluated by colorimetric properties. dye extraction was performed in four media including sodium hydroxide, citric acid, ethanol and pure water. dyeing has been done using three methods of pre-, meta- and post-mordanting. the x-rite pro reflectance spectrophotometer (illuminant d65, 10o standard observer) is used to measure the color strength and cielab of the dyed samples. the results show that highest color strength was obtained from the extract of the medium containing citric acid or ethanol. also, the highest color strength is created using the meta-mordanting method

Abstract    Historical researches show that dyeing with natural dyes have existed as a valuable special art in the region of Iran since the Achaemenid period.
