|
Polyurethane coatings mostly are applied as top coat due to the unique abrasion and excellent uv resistance properties. although the organic uv absorbers are used typically in the coating system, activities are followed in order to reinforce the weathering resistance including the use of adavance nanomaterials like graphene oxide. in this study, for the first time, the modified graphene oxide-tinuvin (mgo.tin) was synthesized to improve the anti-uv properties of the polyurethane (pu) coating. the mgo.tin was characterized by ftir and fe-sem analyses. the weathering stability of the pu and pu/mgo.tin composite was evaluated through contact angle and hardness tests before and after staying in the quv chamber. the tests results revealed the effectiveness of the mgo.tin nano-additive to reinforce the weathering properties of the polyurethane clear coats.
