چکیده    Enormous efforts have been made during recent decades to achieve smart materials enhancing the quality of human life. one of these attainments can be illustrated by multifunctional textiles, which react to various stimuli such as light, ph, magnetic field, etc. in this research, nanostructured cobalt ferrite (cofe2o4) has been synthesized on the surface of polyester fabrics through the co-precipitation method using cobalt (ii) chloride, iron chloride (iii) and sodium hydroxide. the process was carried out at 90 °c. the effect of reaction time and solution concentration on the distribution of nanoparticles over textiles was investigated. x-ray diffraction (xrd) results confirmed the successful coating of textiles with cofe2o4 nanoparticles. the average crystallite size was estimated about 19 nm. the morphology and dispersion of particles and chemical structure of the fabrics were assessed using the field emission scanning electron microscopy (fesem) and energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (edx), respectively. the mean particle size was found to be approximately 40 nm. vibrating sample magnetometer (vsm) analysis and photocatalytic study displayed the great potential of the fabrics in magnetic and self-cleaning applications. the saturation magnetization and coercivity of the cofe2o4 powder were measured about 51.8 emu/g and 1266 oe, respectively. however, these values changed to 1.8 emu/g and 1902 oe for the coated fabric. it should be noted that to the best of our knowledge no report has been presented on the coating of fabrics with cofe2o4 until now.

Abstract    Enormous efforts have been made during recent decades to achieve smart materials enhancing the quality of human life.
