|
The textile industry consumes a large quantity of water and a wide range of chemicals including colorants and finishing auxiliaries. Therefore, the textile industry is among the most polluting industries globally as a result of the remaining chemicals in the wastewater. Stringent environmental legislations in many countries enforce the industry towards using environmental-friendly products and processes. This talk provides an overview of environmental aspects of textile coloration, the current situation, and future outlook. The most important parameters in the textile coloration of cellulose with reactive and vat dyes and polyester fibers with disperse dyes are explained to highlight the current limitations and areas of development. Some of the new textile coloration technologies along with their advantages and shortcomings are presented and discussed.
