Materials used in textiles, such as handmade rugs, should be dyed and decorated according to the value, appearance and customer's wishes. for dyeing the fibers, synthetic and natural dyes can be used. today’s, the use of natural dyes due to the lack of threats of synthetic dyes and biodegradation properties, has been much considered. one of the problems of natural dyes is the limitation of creating different shades. so, it is necessary to introduce new natural dyes. in this research, the possibility of dyeing wool fibers with quince (cydonia oblonga) tree leaves has been investigated as a natural plant dye. for this purpose, the effect of parameters such as extraction method (extraction with water and ethanol), optimal amount of dye (20, 40, ... and 160%), dyeing method (pre-, meta- and after-mordanting), type of mordant (aluminum, copper, iron, tin, chromium, nickel and zinc), acid type (acetic, sulfuric, tartaric, oxalic, lactic and formic) and dyeing time (1, 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours) on the hue and value of shade were examined. the results show that using different mordants and acids, pale pink, yellow, gray and brown shades can be obtained from the quince tree leaves. to obtain higher value of shades, it is suggested to use 80 percent of the quince tree leaves as the optimal amount of dye, extract dye with water solution (instead of using ethanol) and meta-mordanting dyeing method. also, increasing the dyeing time did not have effect on the value of the obtained color
