چکیده    Carbon nanotubes (cnts) are tubes made of carbon with nanometer diameters. cnt is a hollow cylinder with porous walls made of single-walled and multi-walled shapes with concentric walls. recently, cnt is widely used in various applications due to its unique features such as high tensile strength and yang modulus, low cost, lightweight, high conductivity, light absorption and repellency, storage capacity, high surface density, and voltage generation. recently, carbon nanotubes have been used in anti-corrosion applications as barrier filler as well as nanocarriers to repair and reinforce the polymeric coatings. recent nanocarriers include halloysite, cyclodextrins, bilayer hydroxide, zeolite, and graphene oxide. nanocarriers can prevent the diffusion of corrosive agents into the epoxy coating and increase the strength of the coating. carbon nanotubes can be used as a new nanocarrier with high adsorption and diffusion capacity of the inhibitor on the coating. carbon nanotubes can adsorb and release the inhibitors in the case of the coating damage, and the inhibitors can heal the defected area by forming a protective film on the metal area. this paper discusses the importance of cnt structure as a new filler for achieving anti-corrosion and self-healing properties for epoxy coatings.

Abstract    Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are tubes made of carbon with nanometer diameters.
