Fish is one of the sensitive foods for its convenience but the large exposed surface area as well as microbial degradation, limit its shelf life and accelerate its spoilage. microbial spoilage could increase ph value and decompose protein and then increase the total volatile basic nitrogen (tvb-n), which can indicate the spoilage. food industries have a growing interest in developing a smart lable to track product quality, sense the external and internal factors of packaging. intelligent packaging has been introduced as an emerging approach to monitor the packaging function and provide consumers assurances of the quality and safety in the food supply product quality, sense the external and internal factors of packaging.in this work, the self-coloured polymer was designed based on a fluorescent functionalized 1,8-naphthalimide dye. the sensitive dye is capable of changing its emission during spoilage of food like fish. safe, smart packaging with no dye migration was obtained via polymerizable characterization of sensitive dye with methyl methacrylate (mma). polymerization process has been investigated via light-curing process. synthesis of fluorescence polymerizable monomer based on n-allyl-para-flouroethylenediamin-1,8-naphthalimide derivative was designed and characterized. smart polymer film changes its fluorescence against total volatile basic nitrogen (tvb-n). remarkable intensity changes of smart film make it good candidate for smart food packaging application
