چکیده    The advancement of technology and the advent of new media have changed the marketing environment. traditional marketing containing face-to-face marketing, telephone marketing, broadcast marketing and even email marketing and marketing through the websites is a one-way communication. in this type of marketing, the company sends messages to the audiences but does not receive any response from them. on the other hand, digital marketing including social media marketing, makes audiences able to respond to the company’s messages. this two-way communication makes an interaction between company and its audiences. this research aims to investigate the pros and cons of both traditional marketing and digital marketing. for this purpose, the viewpoints of a set of 30 people of business owners about the pros and cons of traditional marketing and digital marketing are examined. the survey data are collected through the questionnaires. in these questionnaires, business owners’ opinions about the two types of marketing and also their favorite type of marketing were asked. the data analysis revealed that although digital marketing is faster and more affordable, traditional marketing is still considered as an effective way to market the product among the target market. business owners prefer to use both traditional marketing and social media marketing simultaneously. the reason is that both ways of marketing have efficiencies and inefficiencies and they complete each other
