چکیده    The purpose of the present study is to examine the effects of anxiety on the students’ writing performance in efl context. the participants were chosen from among 80 iranian efl students who took part in tofel proficiency test. 40 students majoring in english literature and english translation (20 female & 20 male, aged 18 to 25) have been selected. the instruments to collect data were: a) foreign language classroom anxiety scale (horwitz et al., 1986) and b) writing performance test. both quantitative and qualitative research method were employed in this study. the data were collected by distributing flcas questionnaire and a writing test, which were analyzed statistically through ibm spss software. the results of the study indicated that there is a significant negative relationship between students’ anxiety and their writing performance. accordingly, it could be concluded that (high) anxiety was effective (negatively) in the .performance of students
