چکیده
|
In this contribution we try and show how józef bocheński's notion of supernatural verification (bocheński 1965) may be employed to analyze and interpret religious thought experiments (rte) as proofs of god's existence, miracles etc. focusing on st. anselm's ontological argument, we discuss some characteristics of rte. within the logical-analytical tradition—that could be accused of confusion of the natural and the supernatural as they try to prove too much, i.e. the referent instead of the meaning of god--the impact of philosophical investigations (wittgenstein 1953) freed theologians from charges of non-meaningfulness and non-verifiability through introduction of meaning is use criterion. it opened up religious experience of believers to application of bocheński's logic of religion, that assigns logic a prevalent role in justification of religious belief--'when justification is concerned, it must be repeated, logic alone is competent, and no other discipline' (bocheński 1965 : 135).
