چکیده    “human reason has the peculiar fate in one species of its cognitions that it is burdened with questions which it cannot dismiss, since they are given to it as problems by the nature of reason itself, but which it also cannot answer, since they transcend every capacity of human reason” (avii).kant opens the first edition of the critique of pure reason with addressing the peculiar fate of human reason, which has to struggle with questions transcending its capacity, such as the belief in god. i will consider how this question is approached in the thought of immanuel kant and mohammed al-jabri respectively, focusing on how the answer concerning the rationality of the belief in god changes depending on the particular account of reason.
