an approach to the identification and ranking of the motivations for the application of standardization in the supply chain

Supply chain efficiency is one of the key factors contributing to organizations’ competitiveness. studies have shown the effectiveness of standardization at all stages of the supply chain. standardization has been introduced as an effective factor in increasing supply chain efficiency, reducing costs, reducing market uncertainty and gaining competitive advantage in companies. in this study, an innovative approach has been applied which utilizes field research and correlation analysis of variables in order to identify and rank the motivations for the application of standardization at the primary levels of a supply chain. using the approach, the advantages of industries participating in standardization are identified, and using variance analysis factors affecting supply chain performance improvement are rated accordingly. the results of the study on key iranian automotive industries revealed that the factor contributing to increasing responsiveness and market expansion is the most crucial factor and benefit of standardization in supply chain and leads to increased supply chain agility.
