an analytical hierarchy process approach to analyse the challenges to sustainable supply chain management in indian automobile industries

Automobile sector in india is growing rapidly due to increase in demands of vehicles at global level. india is the 7th largest vehicle producer in world. the increase in demand of automobiles has led to problems like global warming, higher carbon emissions and depletion of natural resources. therefore, there is a need of sustainable framework for the indian automobile industries to implement the sscm in their business practices. adoption of a new supply chain system over existing supply chain system is never be an easy task as it requires lot of practices and hinder by some barriers. the aim of present research work is to identify the sscm barriers for the indian automobile industries. data for the present study is collected through the expert’s reviews and questionnaire survey circulated to automobile industries. further, data is analysed with the help of analytical hierarchy process ranking of barriers is done and a conclusion with the future research direction is made at the end of the research work. the results of this research work show that lack of corporate structure and processes is the most influencing barrier in the indian automobile industries.
