presenting a process for categorization, evaluation, selection and management of investment projects

Selecting and managing investment projects portfolio is one of the most challenging decision making problems in businesses. the selected portfolio of projects, usually reflects the strategic objectives of an organization. a logical relation between investment portfolios is required in formation, evaluation, screening, selection and reviewing of projects. in this paper, using literature review, we have proposed a process for categorization, evaluation, selection and management of investment projects. also, we have explained the sequence of different stages in this procedure. moreover, in this paper a categorization of investment projects and implementing qualitative and quantitative criteria for increasing the efficiency of this process has been provided. this categorization enables organizations to evaluate, screen, select and prioritize projects in each sub portfolio based on the set of available criteria and techniques. qualitative and quantitative screening decrease the number of poor projects and simplify the selection of superior projects. additionally, in this process, we have proposed the required data bases for storing some ongoing and closed projects based on the circumstances. the results of this research can regularize and increase the effectiveness of investment projects portfolio management in project-based organizations.
