چکیده
|
As one of the most popular types of intersemiotic translation, adaptation is as old as the cinema. many of the world’s most successful films have been adapted from fiction, and most of them have been dubbed in iran. based on manipulation school, this study aimed to analyze the changes made in the persian dubbing of shawshank redemption (1994), a film directed byfrank darabont and adapted from a novella by stephen king, rita hayworth and shawshank redemption (1982). to meet this purpose, the dubbed version of the film as the target text was compared with the novella as its original source and the changes were analyzed intersemiotically based on manipulation strategies suggested by ducate (2007). the results indicated that there has been all manipulation strategies in the film but the mostly usedstrategy in the dubbed version was deletion. in addition, cultural subjects (including moral issues) and religious content are among the mostmanipulated subjects.
