the relationship between translators’ social intelligenceand the translation quality of political texts

Most of the recent interdisciplinary researches have shown that there is arelationship between psyche and translation activities. to this end, thisarticle aims to shed light on the relationship between translator’s socialintelligence (si), and the translation quality of political texts. therefore,we conducted a psycho-translatological study on the translation of trump’sspeech to the un general assembly in order to find out the probablepositive, meaningful correlation between the quality of the translated textand the translator’s si. to fulfill this aim 40 iranian freshmen andsophomores of english translation studies were asked to fill out two siquestionnaires (stellar si questionnaire and tromso si questionnaire), andtranslate a short political text from english to persian. interestingly, theresults revealed that no significant relationship exists between anindividual’s si and his/her translation quality.
