Nowadays, utilization and development of public transportation systems and sectors are good solutions for reducing the urban traffic. however, choosing the system must commensurate with the characteristics of the city and, of course, should be able to compete with personal vehicles in order to bring sufficient desirability to users. in this study at first the problems of urban bus transportation system from the user’s point of view has been studied and it has been determined that the main solution of this problem is to allocate a special rout to the urban bus fleet, or in other words, convert the regular lines of the city bus to brt lines. the study is followed by an evaluation of the existing brt lines of the city based on the brt (2016) standard of the itdp institute, and each line has been scored. also by surveying the users, the satisfaction level of the existing brt system has been evaluated by travelers. the results show that the average rating of brt lines in the city of isfahan is below the bronze standard but based on the users of brt, the system has achieved 74% of the score from different indicating groups. the results of the study show that the brt lines have been able to absorb 21 and 13 percent of private car and taxi passengers, respectively. the most important reasons for passengers to use the brt lines in order of preference are its speed, scheduled bus time table and its comfort.
