چکیده

Background and aim: breast cancer is the most frequent malignancy in women worldwide and is curable in ~70–80% of patients with early- stage, non- metastatic disease . endogenous retroviruses (ervs) are remnants of ancient retroviral infections that make up 8% of the human genome. although these elements are mostly fragmented and inactive, many proviruses belonging to the herv-k (hml-2) family have intact open reading frames, some encoding for accessory genes called np9 and rec that interact with oncogenic pathways.methods: in this study, we collected on 42 pairs of breast carcinoma and their adjacent normal tissues. after rna extraction and cdna synthesis , quantitative real time pcr were performed for snail and np9 genes. statistical analysis were performed using spss software.results: increased expression of snail and np9 genes was observed in tumor samples compared to non-tumors sample.conclusion: our results may imply that increased expression of snail and np9 genes has an important role in breast cancer pathogenesis.
