A Review of Biodegradable Polymers and Their Various Applications

In recent years, increasing use of polymeric materials in different industries, especially packaging and medical industries, along with the problems arising from the disposal of these wastes has become a serious concern for the environment. despite the great importance of disposing of non degradable plastic waste, the high cost of this operation has created many problems for its implementation. the fundamental solution for the disposal of non degradable plastic waste and the solution of current problems caused by polymer waste is the production and use of biodegradable polymers. biodegradable polymers have properties similar to petrochemical polymers, which have wide applications in industry. but a very important advantage of this polymer compared to petrochemical polymers is their biodegradability.these substances are easily broken down into smaller units by the activity of microorganisms such as fungi and bacteria. the purpose of this article is to investigate the properties and different applications of biodegradable polymers in industry and medicine.
