چکیده    Predicting the temperature distribution of a li-ion cell is of crucial importance when designing energy-storage systems in the present work, we rely on the cfd package openfoam to determine the thermal behavior of a li-ion-phosphate cell and its power loss numerical results show good agreement with available experimental data it is shown that in the discharge mode, the heat generated by entropic mechanisms acts like a heat sink lowering the temperature but, it is eventually overcome by the joule effect which causes a significant rise in the overall temperature the results also reveal that free convection cannot significantly affect the temperature distribution within the battery
