In this research, epoxy nanocomposites were prepared using different loadings (0/5, 1, 1/5 wt%) of nanoclay the fabricated nanocomposites were evaluated by salt spray and uv–visible absorbance spectra anti-corrosive properties of nanocomposites was investigated on unmodified steel and modified steel by using salt spray test the modification of substrate was done by using conversion coating based on cerium the salt spray results revealed that the pretreated coating with 15 wt% nanoclay has a better anticorrosive performance after 1 week immersion in 35 wt% nacl solution results of uv–visible absorbance spectra showed presence of clayparticles, reduces the transmission of ultraviolet light and damages is reduced the absorbance of the nanocomposite (containing 1/5 wt% nanoclay) was the highest, with 40% absorbance in 296nm for surface characterization of applied conversion coating, contact angle measurement was done it is concluded that by applying a conversion coating on the steel surface, the contact angle is reduced about 20 0
