|
In this study, hybrid xanthan gum-alginate/mmt composite (xg-alg/mmt) by the aim of removing malachite green (mg) dye from wastewater prepared by montmorillonite (mmt) dispersion into calcium ion cross-linked binary xg-alg hydrogel# the synthesized xg-alg/mmt composites were characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ftir)# the ph_pzc was found to be 7#6 for xg-alg/mmt# the adsorption experiments indicate that xg-alg/mmt had the largest adsorption capacity by 51#7 mg/g compared with xg-alg by 40#1 mg/g that indicate 28#9% improving in adsorption capacity, due to the formation of mmt effective partition and negative surface charge# maximum adsorption capacity was 56#43 mg/g# the adsorption conformed to the pseudo-second order kinetic model# results showed xg-alg/mmt composite would be a promising candidate for absorptive removal mg from wastewater#
