In this work, an attempt was made for the first time to omit cu(ii) ions from its aqueous solutions using silica nanoparticles immobilized on zeolite 13x granules (szx13) synthesized by sol-gel method# scanning electron microscope (sem) analysis was used to characterize the structure of nanoparticles immobilized on zeolite 13x granules# adsorption process was performed in a batch laboratory-scale with emphasis on the effect of various parameters such as kind of adsorbent, ph, adsorbent dosage, copper initial concentration, and contact time on the adsorption efficiency# to investigate the performance of szx13, sorption experiments were also conducted using silica nano particles and zeolite13x as sorbents and results were compared together# scanning electron microscope analysis indicated that the immobilization process of nano particles was successfully carried out and the immobilized particles have a nano-size distribution# results showed that adsorption capacities were increased from 1#5 to 2#7 mg g-1 with the increasing of initial metal concentrations from 30 ppm to 50 ppm, for szx13# optimized values to achieve the highest capacity were found to be as follows: ph 6, the adsorbent (szx13) dose of 10 g# l-1, and the initial copper concentration of 50 ppm#
