Effect of Drilling Fluid Properties on the Rate of Penetration (Rop): Case Study in Some Wells of South Pars Gas Field

The rate of penetration (rop) is a key parameter in drilling optimization, which makes it an important field of study# in this work, effect of drilling mud properties on rop of five wells studied in south pars gas field, iran# the main objective of this investigation is to analyze the effect of mud properties such as mud weight (mw) and mud plastic viscosity (pv) on rop and to find the recommended range for operational mud weight and plastic viscosity based on the rock lithology and drilling depth# results show that increasing mw and pv will decrease rop in deep holes while increasing in top hole#
