Preparation and Characterization of Polydopamine Coated Pvdf Membrane and Its Application For Diclofenac Removal

In this study, nanofiltration membrane was prepared via the mussel-inspired deposition of polydopamine (pda) on pvdf support membrane in presence of trimesoyl chloride (tmc) as a cross-linker for coating dopamine# the pure pvdf and pda/pvdf membranes were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (fesem), attenuated total reflection-fourier transform infrared (atr-ir) spectroscopy and contact angle measurement# the separation performance of resultant membranes was studied for diclofenac removal at 50 ppm# the results revealed that the coating polydopamine layer on pvdf membrane decreased pure water flux from 9#8 to 2#6 l/(m2#h#bar) and increased rejection of diclofenac from 76 to 87 %#
