Among various advanced oxidation methods, semiconductor photocatalysis has proven to be an advantageous process for water treatment# over the recent years, some efforts have been made for the synthesis of different hydroxide nanostructures as nontoxic and highly active semiconductor photocatalysts# in the current research, magnesium hydroxystannate nanophotocatalyst was synthesized in a coprecipitation process without any templates, surfactants or organic solvents# the structural and morphological properties of the obtained sample were characterized by x-ray diffraction (xrd) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (sem)# the photocatalytic activity of the mgsn(oh)6 was further evaluated by the degradation of acid orange 7 (ao7) and methyl orange (mo) under 254 nm uv light irradiation# the high photocatalytic performance of hydroxide magnesium stannate is mainly attributed to the population and regeneration of surface oh groups
