چکیده    Cyanobacteria are the only prokaryotes capable of oxygen photosynthesis# their evolutionary association with plastids in eukaryotic phototrophs and their growing use as green cell factories prompted new approaches to the use of systems biology# synechocystis sp# pcc 6803 has become one of the most commonly used models for genetic tools in cyanobacteria# in this research, we have employed a systems metabolic engineering strategy for screening genes in order to identify down-regulated or over-expressed reactions for increasing ethanol production# glyoxylate carboligase (glxcl), fructose-bisphosphate aldolase (fba_b), and aldehyde dehydrogenase (aldd2xr_b) are ideal candidates to be up-regulated and glycine cleavage system (glyclb, glyclc_f), and cytochrome b6/f complex periplasm (cbfcpc) to be down-regulated# by this approach, much time and expenses can be saved for researchers to achieve maximal ethanol production through genetic modification of synechocystis sp# pcc 6803#
